Vacancy Movie Review

Vacancy leaves a lot to be desired. I was happy to see less gore and more mental thrills compared to films like Hostel or Saw. This film stars Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale as a couple travelling home late at night only to have car trouble in the middle of nowhere. Lucky for them they just passed a motel a mile down the road. The room leaves a lot to be desired despite being the "Honeymoon Sweet" with lots of "extra perks". At least it has a TV and some slasher films to entertain them during their overnight stay. There is something very strange and familiar about the tapes the motel has left for their viewing pleasure. They all appear to be filmed in the very same room they occupy! They soon realize they are they are trapped in their room with hidden cameras now aimed at them and that they are the stars of the next home movie. I dont care for gore, anyone can do that. I want to be taken on an emotional journey with characters I care about in a film and dont need cheap thrills. The concept of this movie is chilling becaue you can actually believe that this could happen, that somewhere out there in the middle of nowhere there a sick and twisted individuals that enjoy killing. On the flipside the story took me to great heights and a great low at the end. Imagine a rollercoaster ride with lots of twists and turns and then all of a sudden just ends. My only gripe about this film is the ending.
