Get Smart is the perfect combination of comedy and action film. Very loosely based on the original series (only by title and character names in my opinion) Get Smart is a perfect reboot for today's generation of fans that are familiar with Steve Carrell. Who better than Steve to play Maxwell Smart the bumbling secret agent who works for Control to fight the powers of evil who are represented by Kaos. This film, like the television series is produced by Mel Brooks which is a good idea because he definitely knows a thing or two about comedy. Anne Hathaway can kick my ass any day of the week if she would like, she is on fire in this film. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is funny as well as the alpha male agent. Alan Arkin stars in his second film with Steve Carrell and is HILARIOUS as usual. It is good to see Masi Oka on the big screen although he does not take a major departure in character from his role on Heroes.
The plot is pretty simple but the jokes make up for it. Yes there are major issues with the overall feasibility of many of the sequences. I kept wondering where the heck they always found fresh clothing, but that is a common issue I guess from Bond films. I liked the action sequences and actually thought that Steve Carrell did a wonderful job and pulled his own weight. Anne Hathaway also looked at ease doing martial arts and in the various action sequences. I am very glad that I saw this movie and think that you should see it too. I would love your thoughts on this film.
